Wellness Retreat at Home

So I’ve been wanting to go to a wellness retreat for a few months now.  However, they are quite pricey.  I get that most of them are all inclusive, but the cheapest one I found was in the $800s per night if you go during the week.

I’m not a frugal person at all, but it just cost way too much to go to a wellness retreat.  How can I relax and enjoy myself knowing I’m paying between $1,000 to $2,500 per night?  And that doesn’t include a plane ticket to fly to the retreat…

Don’t get me wrong, there are retreats outside of the U.S that are more affordable, but you’ll have to fly at minimum 10 hours to get there.

For now, I’ll take a weekend and create my own wellness retreat at home.  You can do the same.

Below are the items you will need to create your at home wellness retreat:

  1. Candles: (preferably soy) with the scents eucalyptus, ginger, lavender, sage, white…you see where I’m going
  2. Robe:  a good wellness retreat is not complete without this essential item
  3. Water: not just plain water…water with lemon, cucumbers, ginger or fruits…basically infused water
  4. Your tub and/or shower:  If you have a tub with jets, perfect.  If not, it’s ok.  A regular tub is perfect to fill with very warm water.  You want to feel like you’re in a sauna.  Add eucalyptus to the water.  If you only have a shower, you can add a eucalyptus tablet or spray the shower with the eucalyptus spray.  Pure zen
  5. Portable sauna (optional):  so I don’t know if you’ve seen the portable saunas that can go inside your homes.  My husband bought us one and it is amazing.  You can purchase one anywhere between $100- $200.  Definitely worth the price.
  6. Music: You want to listen to relaxation music.  You want music that puts you in complete tranquility
  7. Facial mask:  I always feel relaxed with a nice facial.  Get a facial mask, lay back and relax.
  8. No phones:  section out your time and tell your family and friends not to disturb you, as you will be ignoring your phone.  No scrolling on social media.  Just you time.
  9. Meditation: take a few minutes to meditate.  Do a breathing exercise
  10. And lastly, you need some healthy snacks.  Just like at the wellness retreat, you can get salads, smoothies, fresh juice, fruits, etc.

Now this isn’t a luxury wellness retreat, but it will definitely help to relax you. Sometimes you just need to block out a few hours to yourself.  Me time!

My Fur Baby, Wally 🐕

Let me tell you about my Fur baby, Wally.  My husband, whom I met in 2021 (a story for another day), had a beautiful chocolate Labrador.  Wally was his baby, as he had Wally when he was 5 weeks old.  I’ve seen photos and Wally was the cutest puppy.

I was always scared of dogs. When I started dating my now husband, I felt I was in a dilemma.  I didn’t want to go to his home because I knew he had a dog.  When we became serious, I told him he had to make a choice between me and his dog.  He couldn’t make a decision and asked me not to make him choose.  I could tell this dog meant a lot to him, so I asked to meet Wally.  I told him to bring Wally to my house so I can meet him in person.

First dinner with Wally

Needless to say, I became obsessed with Wally.  I immediately became his dog momma!  I loved that dog so much.  People would tell my husband that I love Wally more than I did him.

I could go on and on about this special dog.  For now I just want to say…

Happy birthday in rainbow heaven to my yoga partner, breakfast buddy and protector.  If you ever had or have a dog that you are close to…then you know.

They are super loyal, lovable  and will always be by your side.  I could count on Wally to get up at 6:30am and lay at the end of the hallway every morning waiting for me.  That was our bonding time.  And when I would go into the office, he knew on those days to get up at 5:30.

There will never be another Wally.  Unique and one-of-a-kind…the best dog ever ❤️

All the Vibes of Fall 🍁

Let me ask you the question…

I am 100% team apple cider.  The funny part is that I am not an apple fan at all. As a matter of fact, I refuse to drink apple juice.

I know weird.  However, I must say that I don’t understand the concept or fascination with pumpkin spice.  Unlike apple cider that is made from actual apples, pumpkin spice has no pumpkin whatsoever in it.

Pumpkin spice is merely a blend of spices such as cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice.  It’s literally called upumpkin spice because they tend to use those spices when baking pumpkin dishes, such as pumpkin pie. If you added pumpkin to your pumpkin spice latte, would you really like it?
