Hey friends!
If you have been following me from the beginning, you know that I have been honest about my extremely bad fibroid and endometriosis issues. Unfortunately for most, these issues can lead to fertility issues. Ugh…
As I’ve also talked about, I’ve changed the way I eat. Don’t get me wrong, every once in awhile I do indulge in a few sweet treats. I am trying to cut that out completely as well. Who am I kidding…I only plan on cutting it out for the next month because I plan to indulge for Thanksgiving on a piece of sweet potato pie and a few Christmas treats. Anyway enough about that, I want to share some of the foods I have incorporated in my journey to a healthy fertility.
The foods I am going to talk about today are called “superfoods”. What are superfoods you might ask? Superfood is a term used to talk about foods that provides significant health benefits. Here are a few superfoods that not only promote health, but also claim to boost fertility.
- Berries
Berries are high in antioxidants, vitamin c and potassium. They are also an anti-inflammatory. What makes berries good for fertility? Berries protect your body from cell damage and cell aging of your reproductive system.
2. Broccoli
Broccoli is high in folate, Vitamin B, Vitamin C and iron. Low levels of iron can result in anovulation, which basically means when you ovulate, you will not produce a healthy egg. Therefore it is extremely important to get and/or keep those iron levels normal.
Fun fact 😁: broccoli naturally increases a woman’s libido
3. Pumpkin seeds
Pumpkin seeds contain an enormous amount of zinc, which is a fertility booster. Although zinc is important for a woman’s fertility, zinc has been known to increase a man’s fertility. So all you men out there suffering from fertility issues, I high recommend incorporating pumpkin seeds in your daily diet.
4. Nuts
Nuts are one of the most important foods for fertility nutrition. They provide your body with fiber, protein, minerals and essential fatty acids.
5. Salmon
Salmon is a great source of protein and rich in omega 3. Omega 3 is said to balance the female reproductive system.
6. Turmeric
Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant that is essential for those suffering from fibroid and endometriosis. I personally drink at least 12 ounces of turmeric tea a day and it really taste good. I will talk about all the teas I drink in the next article.
7. Maca
Maca root has to be my favorite superfood when it comes to boosting fertility and just gaining tons of energy. Maca is an adaptogenic herb that studies have shown to improve fertility in women and men. This root supports hormonal balance and is also believed to suppress estrogen dominance. It balances the estrogen and progesterone which is important for conceiving. The most popular way to consume maca is in powder form. I incorporate my maca powder in a smoothie, which I will be happy to share.
I hope you find this article helpful. Although this is geared towards those with fertility issues, anyone can incorporate these superfoods into their diet to obtain a healthier lifestyle. Next week Wednesday I will share with you all some more things I’ve learned on my journey to a healthy fertility. Goodnight my friends 💋
