The Webster dictionary defines a shopaholic as one who is extremely or excessively fond of shopping. And I must confess, that’s me!
I love love love clothes, shoes, bags, jewelry…etc; etc; There is not one thing about shopping that I do not love, except maybe the long lines. That is why I usually shop online and also because I will find unique clothing that thousands of women will not be wearing. I don’t have a twin. Therefore I do not need to walk around having another woman wearing the same outfit I have on.
When I go to the mall, my goal is to window shop, especially now that I work from home. But once I get into that mall, all logic goes out the window. Something tells me that I must have that blouse because I don’t have that particular style and if I do have that style, I don’t have that color. “And girl that color will look good on you!”. And of course if I really love the clothing, I must get it in every color.
Why is it everytime we have an event to attend or just going out on a date or with friends, we can never find anything in our closets to wear? I am so guilty of that. I swear I try on so many outfits from my closet and more than 50% of the time I am going to the mall or if I have time, I am going online to order a fabulous new outfit. Do we just do that as an excuse to shop? And forget it… vacation time. If I am going on vacation, that calls for a few new pieces… because the new pieces already hanging in my closet just will not make the cut for that island getaway. And please tell me I am not weird because I cannot wear the same swimsuit twice. I don’t know what it is about swimsuits, but if I wear it on a vacation, I will never wear it again.
For example: if I am going on a four day vacation and I know I will go to the beach all four days, I will buy four swimsuits. I will wear one each day and after that, I will never wear those swimsuits again. Does that make me weird? Is that a classic shopaholic move?
I will say that although I am a shopaholic, I am not one of those people that will spend my last dollar to buy that perfect outfit or that fabulous pair of shoes. I ALWAYS MAKE SURE THAT ALL OF MY BILLS ARE TAKEN CARE OF AND THAT I HAVE A LOVELY NEST EGG SET ASIDE… there isn’t anything cute about being in a fabulous outfit and being broke! You need to make sure you have funds in that designer purse…
Just a little FYI, not an excuse to justify my shopping addiction, but I must say that at least twice a year I donate my clothes and accessories to the Lupus Foundation and to people less fortunate then myself.
As always, thanks for reading. Have a beautiful night and I will talk to you soon 💋
What is the definition of a true friend? Can you count how many people in your life you would define as a true friend?
Someone defined friendship as those people that will…
With all the people in our lives we call our friends, now that you look at what this person defined as friendship, would you still consider all those people your friends? Some people use the word friend so loosely. A friend should be someone that you would consider to be like a second family to you or even part of your family. A friend is someone that will defend you when others are disrespecting you (whether you deserve it or not)…As I’m getting older, my views on friendships have definitely evolved. I used to think that the people you’ve known in your life for many years, are your friends. Because you talk to them or text them every once in awhile, they are your friends. But I’ve learned that those people are just your acquaintance. It wasn’t until I had my medical issues that I realized who my true friends are. I’ll just say that the saying is so true… “True friends isn’t about who knew you the longest, its about who came and never left.” And although my circle of friends have shrunken in size, I can truly say that I can now appreciate the beauty of friendship.
